But I clicked on it, (I know, I know) and the article and the comments somehow still managed to shock me.

Another editor slapped a guy when “he told me he thought he had breast cancer.” (Okay, that one made us laugh really hard.)

Is it news to them that men get breast cancer?

one Jez punched a steady in the face and broke his glasses. He had discovered a sex story she was writing about another dude on her laptop, so he picked it up and threw it. And that’s when she socked him. He was, uh, totally asking for it.

Is the same justification ok for a man to do to a woman if she takes a bat to his car?

Battered men? The question is, are these men really physically afraid?

One of the comments. Due to society’s expectations of men they are not allowed to express fear, so no, you wouldn’t know if a man is afraid of a woman.

These kinds of attitudes are the ones that make me question people when they say feminism is supposed to represent equality for all.

I kind of get the point of that piece. Typical Jez comments aside, it’s supposed to be pointing out that men are the victims of domestic violence to the same extent, if not more, than women are.

According to a study of relationships that engage in nonreciprocal violence, a whopping 70% are perpetrated by women. So basically that means that girls are beating up their BFs and husbands and the dudes aren’t fighting back.

Billionaire with a grudge wants to prove Gawker is a shitty organisation with questionable morals and thus pays for bots to boost views on dodgy articles so that Kinja can destroy itself from within.

I think someone went out and tried to manipulate the website for that story to pop back up to the top. It’s disgusting and the tone is awful....... aaaaaaand no one currently working for gawker probably had anything to do with it. I also think even if the point was to show men are more often then not victims of unreported domestic violence, they made no real attempt to show it. I labeled this as from the “uncontrollable dumpster fire days” when jez really was militantly pro-female. It’s a 9 year old article. Eh. Done caring. Gonna continue on to F1 news about monaco.

That whole clicking/reposting thing people do - now, for example - is probably helping with the whole trending thing. Also...

Come on ladies, where are the shelters for battered men? Guys turning up in the emergency rooms with black eyes, broken noses?

My Ex told me his former lover beat him. I was a bit startled when I met her. He is 6'3" about 195 lbs.; she was 5' and appeared to weigh literally 98 lbs.

Battered men? The question is, are these men really physically afraid?

If we’re going to pick apart something someone said, we have to use the whole context, not just the convenient part. That same person also pointed out that there’s no real place to go beside the emergency room if you’re a dude who has a violent partner, which is bad.

These kinds of attitudes are the ones that make me question people when they say feminism is supposed to represent equality for all.

Confirmation bias is a terrible method of reaching a point of understanding. ‘Do feminists really want equality for all?’ is a question you could have answered yourself if you’d actually read that comment section instead of combing it for the most objectionable opinions;

Not sure why we’re bringing this Jezebel article up for a second time the same day in Oppositelock.
